nails and football

Exams are finally over! The freedom feels amazing, but weirdly empty. So – obviously – I decided painting my nails and buying some new nail polish would fill that gap well, and be a nice treat for surviving exam season!

At the moment, they’re this gorgeous red colour, as you can see in the top photo, that I may have “borrowed” from my mom, topped with an Avon 3-in-1 base, top coat and strengthener. Two days in, and not a single nail has chipped, which I think is a new record.

I think they went pretty nicely with my dress, which you can see the bottom of in the picture. Annoyingly enough, the weather decided not to be a dress day around lunch time, so I was freezing. At least my nails and clothes matched though!

And the book in the picture is ‘Wuthering Heights’. It’s one if my English Literature books for A2, and I’m determined to keep on top of my work this year, so bus time is now book reading time.

If you’re in the UK, Tescos has the Maybelline Colour Show line on offer for two for £5! I realise I’m starting to sound like I’m endorsing Tescos – I promise you I’m not! It’s just the shop I go in the most!

The turquoise nail varnish – Urban Turquoise – felt nostalgic for me, reminding me of Perry the Platypus from Phineas and Ferb. Makes me sad to know that that cartoon came so late on in my childhood – it’s up there with Scooby Doo for me!

The white nail varnish – Winter Baby – is definitely going to be used for Greece, and I’m thinking of trying to show my support for England and trying to do St George’s cross designs. It won’t work, I know that already, but it can’t hurt to try!

On a less nail varnish related note, football is a pretty major thing for me at the moment.

For those of you living under a rock at the moment, the World Cup (aka the second biggest sports event to the Olympics) is in full swing! Personally, I’ve never been a fan of football, but during World Cup season, I have the stamina to manage a match a day.

If you haven’t guessed, I’m supporting England, because I’m from England. Sure, tell us we have an awful team. I, like any other England supporter, will just bring up 1966. We can hope!

What’s your favourite nail varnish colour, and are you bothered at all by the World Cup?

hot weather and tescos

So Britain’s rainy streak has finally finished! For a while, at least. And that’s always great – tans get darker, clothes get smaller and brighter, and everyone seems so much more cheerful.

I mean, I walked into the JCR the other day to students singing along to bad 90s pop. Last time that happened was around Christmas time, to the High School Musical soundtrack. We have a collective great music taste. Honest.

This was the other day. I’m still not sure whose glasses they were, or why we decided to have a photo, but this is me and Connor, and I think this is when we all got ice creams (aka the food of the gods).

Given it was our first day of A2, it was actually a really good day! Gorgeous weather, slightly darker tan, and nice cold food.

Enter Tescos. It’s literally a 1 minute walk away from college, so it’s the main shop for us. These water guns were reduced to £1. They sold out by 10am. A lot of people got soaked through in water fights in the JCR and generally around town.

Tesco, being the angels they are, put ice creams on offer as well, so lunch is nearly always ice creams at the moment.

In short, it’s been an amazing day (thank you friends and Tescos), and it’s going to get even better with my friend’s birthday party this weekend!
